Hunter Sustainability Project (HSP), in partnership with The Green Initiative Fund, presents the Hunter Goes Green Film Festival. Running alongside Hunter Goes Green Week 2014, this free event offers a themed evening of entertainment every night from April 28 to May 2. A feature length movie will be screened each evening, accompanied by previews and microdocumentaries that reflect the environmental theme of the day. A free buffet will be served and guest speakers will discuss their involvement with environmental activism, contextualizing the selected films to a NYC student perspective. On the closing night, the winners of the ‘Hunter Goes Olive’ environmentally themed poetry competition will perform their works.
Monday April 28 – Food Day – Screening The Gleaners and I by internationally acclaimed director, Agnes Varda.
Tuesday April 29 – Resource Management Day – Screening DS+R: Reimagining Lincoln Center and High Line with special guest, the director Tom Piper.
Wednesday April 30 – Energy and Climate Change Day – Screening Gasland II with guest speakers provided by NYPIRG and Food and Water Watch
Thursday May 1 – Biodiversity Day – Screening Princess Mononoke by Academy Award winning director, Hayao Miyazaki
Friday May 2 – Home and Lifestyle Day – Screening No Impact Man, featuring winners of the ‘Hunter Goes Olive’ poetry competition for the closing night celebrations.
