Terracycle Campaign

Terracycle at Hunter is a campus-wide program aimed at diverting hard-to-recycle items from Hunter’s waste stream. The TerraCycle company accepts traditionally non-recyclable products, and transforms them into new products.

Terracycle at Hunter was started in 2014 by Sonia Wong through grant funding from The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF). In 2015, Hunter Sustainability Project applied for a second TGIF grant to promote the visibility of the recycling program to the Hunter community. HSP organized a series of tablings during which event participants played games to learn about recycling rules in New York City. Winners received Terracycle products, including folders made from chip bags and pencil cases made from juice pouches.

Check out our flyer below for the item types we are collecting for recycling. We currently have two collection bin locations: (1) Hunter North 3rd floor, (2) Hunter West 4th floor.
